Respect – treating people the way you want to be treated.

“Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.” – Philippians 2:3

Respect is treating others how you want to be treatedAll of want, at some point, to be respected. We want to be treated well, spoken of kindly and thought highly of. Do you know how to do that? You must FIRST do those things to OTHERS. The Golden Rule says, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” It does not say do unto others as they have done unto you. It says and means that you have to go first. In order to do unto someone “as you would have them do…” you must initiate the doing. Don’t wait around for someone to be nice to you. Be nice to them first. Don’t wait for someone to say kind things about you. Say kind things about them first. And if you get nothing in return, continue to do and say nice things.
